The aim is to create a representative building which through its open and inviting architectural design creates a centre of attraction.
The facade of the new hall in the west and the existing buildings in the east form a central “piazza”. The new hall and congress building complex are separated by the north-south axis, a covered pedestrian gallery. The open ground floor of the congress centre allows the “piazza” to continue underneath.
The overall roof of the new hall and the congress centre, partly covered with glass, allows to maintain the unity of the new complex. The wave-like movement stands in contrast to the rest of the exhibition halls and is symbolic of the particular position of the building.
