Botanical greenhouses, informative space, restaurant and facilities
The rhododendron greenhouse is the main attraction of the Bremen City botanical gardens, which are open to the public. The varied climate zones are brought together under one roof, with neighbouring zones having a mutual influence on one another, e.g. the Alpine zone emits excess heat produced by solar radiation to the tropical house and is thereby cooled. The orientation of the building with the main frontage towards the south-east makes optimum use of passive sun energy via a two-shell glass facade. The other outside surfaces are encased in a two-shell hastaflon membrane.
